From Deji ogundele (@dejieo) via Twitter who tweets:

“Hello support I am currently doing a backup for SQL server 2008 database to azure. I have successfully installed the tool but after installation and I run it, there's nothing in the blob in my container. How am I sure my database is been backed up and is there a way to do real time monitoring of database backups to azure storage?”

Customer was referred to the documentation on  https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/5080120e-9ec4-4b41-b776-23f97d3870c9/monitoring-microsoft-azure-backup?forum=windowsazureonlinebackup and https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/systemcenter/2014/05/08/using-and-monitoring-azure-backup-for-windows-server/ however this did not help the customer.

The customer also added: “Thanks for your prompt response. But this
http://www.sqlshack.com/backup-sql-server-databases-microsoft-azure/ contains the steps for sql server 2012. The steps I found for sql server 2008 didnt not solve my challenge because after I ran the backup there was nothing on my blobs in the container that I speciifed. BR
