Hi Every one,
I am planning to create long term retention ( 7 yrs ) policy for my Production Azure SQL VM.
Here is my plan for policy.
Daily backup Retain for 7 days. | 7 |
Every Week (Sunday) backup retain for 1 year (52 weeks). | 52 |
Every month backup retain for 7 years (84 months). | 84 |
Yearly back up for 7 years | 7 |
Total copies after 7 yrs | 150 |
I have checked the pricing article to calculate price before providing sloution, below is the line copy pasted from Azure pricing public link.
"The price of Azure Backup is dependent on thesize of each protected instance. Azure Storage is a separate charge. Customers have the flexibility to choose between LRS or GRS Block Blob Storage (see additional storage pricing details)."
Here is my question :
As per above statement, azure pricing depends on Size of the protected instance. as an example I have checked my different subscription where backup policy is created. my VM size is 200 GB but BACKUP SIZE is 199 MB.
Will Microsoft changes me for 199 MB or 200 GB ?
What is logic behind converting 200 GB data to 199 MB.
I am backing up whole VM ( not file level ).
Thanks in advance.
