Azure VM Snapshot level backup issue

We have an Azure Virtual Machine with 2 TB disks.

Within the virtual machine, we are using Storage Replica as a feature instead of DFSR for replicating disks to other virtual machine.

Whenever we run an Azure Snapshot level backup, it fails every time. It fails with the message that VSS writers are not stable.

I make writers be stable by restarting respective service and then rerun the backup, it fails again. Upon checking the logs, I found that it might have to do with storage replica. Is there a way to exclude a drive from Azure Snapshot level backup. 

Any clues what can be done to fix this.
