Dear All,
I've been thinking about a scenario that Azure Backup may be suitable and wondered if its technically possible. What I would like to do is the following:
- We run 1 physical site with multiple VMs and I would like to backup both the VM itself (system state etc) and data on it to the Azure
- The VMs themselves are hosted within a CSV
- In the event of a DR plan being initiated, to take that backup of the VM sitting in an Azure Backup vault and spin up a VM in Azure itself and run our servers from there
- Is that possible? Could Azure Recovery Services use VMM to consider an Azure VM as a secondary site rather than a physical secondary site?
- What are the cost implications? Obviously we would need to pay for storage of the data (VM or files) but I would like to avoid the need to have the Azure VM running as a Hyper-V replica as I do not need immediate switch over.
Any thoughts would be welcome.
Regards
Pete
