I am trying to use Azure Backup on Windows Small Business Server (SBS) 2011. After installing the latest Azure Backup Agent, which requires and installs Windows Management Framework 3.0, many SBS functions stop working. Note that among other functions that do not work after Windows Management Framework 3.0 (KB2506143) is installed, users can't be added and removed via the SBS console. The process fails with a WinRM error when it gets to the point of adding the new users mailbox.
Fortunately, uninstalling update KB2506143 and restarting the server restores the broken SBS functionality. However, scheduled Azure backup jobs no longer start automatically. The Task Scheduler history shows the task starts, but quickly exits with a return code of 1. I suspect the scheduled task depends on some feature of the now uninstalled Windows Management Framework 3.0 (KB2506143). Manually starting an Azure backup job through the Azure Backup Management Console does run successfully.
How can I schedule Azure backup jobs to automatically run without breaking essential SBS 2011 functions?
