Hello
Does anyone know how to restore accidentally deleted VM and attached disk in Azure?? No manual backups have been made and I didn't find anything like trash or any other options to undelete.
Can someone please help with the following question
I am used to using Azure Automation DSC (Desired State Configuration), in this technology when you register a node (computer) you see the node appear under the 'nodes' section. In other words event if you are not controlling that node at this time via SDC you still see the node as soon as it is on-boarded.
I thought there may be a similar thing with Azure Backup e.g. once I register a node (on-premise computer running the MARS agent), it would show up somewhere in the Azure Portal under the Recovery Services vault section. However I do not see it any where or for that matter a window or section which would list registered nodes (not until they have had at least one backup). Fo example, I on-board the node using PowerShell as follows
PS C:\downloads> Start-OBRegistration -VaultCredentials $i.FullName -Confirm:$false -VerboseBut as above when I look all over the Azure portal, I do not see my node anywhere.
Thanks

Can someone please assist with the following, thanks in advance
I have Windows Server Core and the MARS agent installed, therefore I have no GUI and can only use PowerShell for example
I setup the backup for SystemState and set to 2pm
at 2:30pm when I look in the Azure Portal under
"Recovery Services Vault" > "Backup Items" > "Azure Backup Agent"
I do not see an active job running, I believe this is the place I should look to see if a system is actively being backed up?
Therefore I though I would kick off the system state backup manually as follows
Start-OBSystemStateBackup
When I do this I get the following message
VERBOSE: Starts a one-time backup operation.
Start-OBSystemStateBackup : This operation cannot be performed now because a backup or restore operation is currently in progress. Wait until the
operation finishes or cancel the currently running operation, and then try again.
At line:1 char:1
+ Start-OBSystemStateBackup -Verbose
+ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
+ CategoryInfo : NotSpecified: (:) [Start-OBSystemStateBackup], DlsException
+ FullyQualifiedErrorId : CBPBackupOrRestoreInProgress,Microsoft.Internal.CloudBackup.Commands.StartCBSystemStateBackupCommand
Basically, it states a backup job is already running.
Therefore my questions are
1) Is there a PowerShell cmdlet I can use to check if a backup job (system state or files and folders) is running now?
2) Am I looking in the correct location in Azure console to see if a backup is active, or should I be looking somewhere else?
Thanks very much

Hello,
I have a MARS Agent backup set up to save to a local drive on a VM, and I am trying to copy the backup to a drive attached to my desktop for shipping to Microsoft. I keep getting an error message that access is denied to a temp. parameters file.
Access to the path '\\Path\temp_OfflineBackupParams.xml' is denied.I don't see a temp file, but I do see one with the same name, without temp...
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Jeff
Azure completed a local server backup with warnings and listed one file with the warning DATA FAILURE 0x80990f91
- Backups are done correctly, only on some occasions whit this warning DATA FAILURE 0x80990f91, in some file. The
same files ones that have been successfully backed up without error.
It was reported in 2016 and was described as a known bug which was being patched. with previous versions.
I have Agent version 2.0.9145.0
Someone knows how to correct this.
Our client have a PC which got this error "0x1D4C2 Operation Failed" after installing the Azure Backup agent and scheduled a backup. Tried "Backup now" and this error pop-up few minutes, real quick.
Tried to search for answer, but only found the "double backslash", double checked registry not my case.
Retrieve the LOG but see almost no text description, only error codes.

Hi All,
Just looking for recommendation/advice as "What is the best way to backup Azure Blob Storage contents in Azure cloud"
Please suggest/advice, if need any other information please let us know.
Thank you in advance ! :)
Hi
I have a couple of backups on premises with MARS agent. One of them is affecting the internet perfomance and i want to stop it from the Azure portal (i dont want to limit the BW that i know is an option):
I go to the next path:
Inicio -> Almacenes de Recovery Services -> bk-servidor - Elementos de copia de seguridad -> Elementos de copia de seguridad (Azure Backup Agent)
When i go there and click on the job that is in progress and i want to stop, it show me an option "Cancel" but it appears disabled, then i cannot stop the job. I know that from the agent installed in the server or workstation i could do it, but i would want to do it from the Azure Portal.
¿ Why the option seems to be disabled ?. Its important to clarify that i am global administratior (owner) of that suscription
¿ Is there other way to stop a job from the Azure Portal ?
Thanks in advance
"You can restore the database to an instance of a SQL Server in the same Azure region."
What is the sense of backing up to a geo-redundant Recovery Services Vault if we can't restore a backup to a different region in an emergency? Or am I missing something? I know I can do ASR, and that might be good solution if my churn allows it, or Always On AG async replica, etc. I'm just curious if and how you could ever use a Geo-Replicated Recovery Services Vault that contains backups. It seems like I have more control if I instead just did a SQL backup to geo-redundant blob storage, I have more control over access to that I think.

Hi guys!
we have a problem with the backups on Azure vm. When the machine is up the backups Faile, but when is Down does nice.
Could any help us?
Can someone please help me with the following question
I have Windows Server Core, I installed the MARS agent and performed a successful System State backup and Restore following this document https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/backup/backup-client-automation
Basically the document uses theMSOnlineBackup PowerShell module which gets installed with the MARS agent.
After I have completed a successful system state back to Azure, I can then use theGet-OBRecoverableSource cmdlet to get a list of items I can recover for example
$Source = Get-OBRecoverableSource
$Source
FriendlyName : System State
RecoverySourceName : System State
ServerName : dc02.
I can then move on to use the other cmdlets to perform a restore.
However,
The Get-OBRecoverableSource cmdlet appears to be getting it information 'locally' from the history of the backups done on this server. It does not appear to be getting its information directly from the cloud (even though it may latter be doing the restore from the cloud).
Therefore, what happens in the situation where the server you want to restore has been completed trashed/lost. In which case you need to install the Operating System from scratch, after which you can install the MARS agent. This would mean there would be no history of backups on the server (as it is a brand new replacement server).
So this looks like a catch 22 situation, e.g. the server needs to be rebuilt before a restore can be done and the information required for the restore (using the above cmdlet), is lost (as a new server) and therefore will not be able to perform the restore from Azure.
Please advise, thanks in advance

I am unable to restore to a new VM.
Not certain what this is referring to "CloudInternalError" This restore take almost 3 hours. Does anyone know how to resolve this?
Error Code
CloudInternalError
Warning Message
Microsoft Azure Backup encountered an internal error.
Recommended Action
Wait for a few minutes and then try the operation again. If the issue persists, please contact Microsoft support.
we are Unable to discover the newly added database in azure database backup.
we have recently added one database to always on availability group , as per design the azure database back up job should take the newly added DB back but its not happening.
when i tried to add the new DB to azure backup i am not able to discover it.
Hi,
can anybody tell me, why it takes hours to prepare system backup and finally after transmitting it takes 20 Minutes to transfer 40 MB of data. The internet connection is indeed very fast 50 MBit / Second.
What data transfer speed in upload are you experiencing with Azure?
Best regards,
Oliver
We needed to do a restore on our site, and just found out that we did not set up backups! Are we screwed or is there another way to revert back to site files from earlier date
Thanks

Can someone please help me with the following,
I have a on-premise Windows 2019 Server Core computer (not GUI)
I am testing Azure Backup (e.g. proof of concept)
I created a new Azure Recovery Fault, and following the following documentation to on-board my on-premise server to Azure Backup https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/backup/backup-client-automation
I created a System State backup policy and schedule following the above advice, when I look in the Azure Portal I see the system state backup failed with the following error
The encryption passphrase for this server is not set. Please configure an encryption passphrase.
Ensure that the encryption passphrase is configured properly.
OK, the message seems quite clear, by problem is I can only find documentation on how to create a new encryption passphrase on the client (server being backed up) using the GUI (i.e. the MARS agent GUI interface). I am on Windows Server 2019 Core, therefore I do not have a GUI and cannot run the MARS agent MMC GUI for example. Therefore I looked for a PowerShell cmdlet that may help e.g. get-command *-OB* but could not find any cmdlets which would allow me to create the passphrase (unless the modules are badly named and the one I need is there).
Anyway, can someone please advise how I can fix this issue on Windows Server Core
Thanks

Hello,
I watched a Microsoft Ignite session on Azure Backup from September 2018 where they explained 'no agents' are required to back Server 2019 desktop experience (GUI version), as 'Windows Administrative Center' has APIs which hook into Azure Backup (so no additional agents need be installed like the MARS agent for example.
The video then said we also support Server 2019 Core, but because there is no GUI you need to configure via a WEB browser (presumably remotely from the Windows Core server). In other words again you do not need to install and agent, presumably because event though the Windows Administrative Center GUI is not present the DLLs/APIs to hook into Azure backup are?
However, I cannot find any further information on the above subject, can any one elaborate and point me to links showing how to backup an on-premise Windows 2019 Core server to Azure Backup preferable without any agents
Thanks
