From Eoin Ryan ‏@edanto via Twitter:

What version of DPM 2012 SP1 (not R2) is req'd for the latest version of the DPM Azure Backup agent? Does 4.1.3465 need patch? More specifically, will a DPM 4.1.3465 server with v2.0.8715.0 of Azure agent stop backing up after this Wed? Patches needed?

Recovery fails due to incorrect encryption phrase

Hi,

Can someone please help me out, I'm currently trying to restore from a backup and the system keeps stopping with an error saying "The encryption passphrase stored for this computer is not correctly configured."

The encryption key is the same one we've been using for the last month. I can browse through the backups but I can't get them down off the server. I'm able to re-register the server and successfully browse the backups but still cannot download them.

Any ideas?

Scheduled backup not running or failing, nothing happens

I created a simple scheduled backup that does in fact run successfully manually.  But the schedule (01:00 every day) just never happens.  No log, no errors, nothing. Yet it states on the dashboard that the schedule is there and ready to go.

Have I missed something obvious?  I did it via the wizard and took all the defaults.  The funny thing is, in the beginning it ran and failed every night.  I fixed the failure (tested manually) and now the schedule never happens.  Again, it does NOT run and fail, it just does NOT run.

Different between backup schedule configuration

Dear all,

I did configuring daily/weekly/monthly/yearly backup job (with DPM).  We noticed all jobs are backing up delta only.  On Azure back-end, what’s the difference of each job?  Are they share with the same initial copy?  What is the logic?  Thanks.

Best Regards,

I'm currently unable to download the vault credentials file. I get the same error every time on two different machines. "unable to download vault credentials for resource"

I have tried clicking on the blue cloud and clearing IE settings, cookies etc as suggested on the other post I see here. But none of these make a difference.

Azure Backup Pricing and Recommendations

Hello!

A customer @TechMonkeys is asking questions via Twitter @TechMonkeys about what exactly is required for Azure Backup and how it is priced. The customer has explored Backup's pricing page at aka.ms/d876588

"Could your pricing be any more complex please? I just want a cloud backup, do I need an instance + data. The pricing isn't very clear."

Thank you for your assistance.

From Perry de Wit @PerrydeWit via Twitter

"After having Azure Backup Agent stall during backup and having service restarted, our backups on these are all failing. Is there any way to troubleshoot on this? Customer does not have support on their Azure subscription."

"Problem occurs on two servers. Both show error 0x186be (unable to initialize a backup storage location) after waiting om preparing storage for multiple hours."

"Already tried reinstalling the agent and reregistering. Doesn't give me any solution unfortunately. Looks like the agent just can't backup or restore data from the cloud backup after the backup stalled."

Azure Recovery Service Backup Vault - Can Not register my VM

Hello.  I created a new Backup Vault in the East US region.  When I click Discover, it detects my VM from the East US region, but does not allow me to register it.  Here's the error message:
"Successfully discovered virtual machines in the region East US. Please register the virtual machines to a vault of same region."

I've double checked & verify that both the vault and VM are both in the East US region.  I've included a screenshot below to show this.  Please let me know what I am missing.  Thanks for reading.

VNet NSGs for Azure Backup

I have a VNet that I would like to use Azure Backup with. However, I need to only open the specific ports with source and destination. I've read that I need to allow 443 outbound, but that the destination address was the entire Azure IP range...that can;t be right.

I'm looking for the specific ingress and egress rules for a VM in an NSG to communicate with Azure Backup, and only Azure Backup.

Thanks

Azure Backup of ARM VMs

I have a general query.

I want to know when we will be able to get the backup of ARM VMs.

I see an article for Classic VMs >> https://acom-prod-uswest-01.azurewebsites.net/en-us/documentation/articles/backup-azure-vms-prepare/#limitations

https://azure.microsoft.com/en-in/documentation/articles/backup-azure-vms/

But do not see any article for ARM VMs. I have found one which is https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/backup-client-automation/  << Is this for ARM VMs or Classic.

When we will be able to Backup using New Azure portal for ARM VMs, any ETA or update????????'

Thanks

Backup policies configured on Windows Azure Backup are out of sync with this DPM server. (ID 33413)

Hello all,

I keep getting this event logged in DPM 2012 SP1 as a Critical error and no matter what I do I cannot get it to disappear.

"Backup policies configured on Windows Azure Backup are out of sync with this DPM server. (ID 33413)"

Coupled with clickable links to "Inactivate" and "Refresh Online Policies". Neither of these seems to do anything that removes this issue from my DPM server.

Backups works and there seems not be any problems with storage space.

The Azure agent seems to be of latest version since there are no messages in DPM about upgrading it and no problems with Online Backup either, certificates and all are all there and works.

Hi all

I've installed and configured backup to azure with the agent. because it takes to long to finish, i Need to stop the job at 07:00 AM

because the server is a 2008R2 I'm not able to configure the Server 2012 Settings.

I try to set the Task in Taskmanager to stop after 12hrs but the job don't stop at 07:00 AM

When i manually stop the job it ask me "are you sure to stop the job?" and I think that this is the Problem that the Task won't stop at 07:00 AM

does someone have a powershel script to force stopping the job or to automatic answer the questions when stopping the job?

why I Need to stop the job? when the job is runing and because I'm not able to configure the trafic rules, the server and internet is so slow that noone can work.

Thanks for your help

Micosoft Azure Alert issue & backup issue

Hi There,

We are using Microsoft Azure backup service for our off-site backup.

Issue #1 During last two weeks we saw an alert :

A newer version of Microsoft Azure Recovery Services Agent is avilable now.

1. We did install the update correctly, then reboot our server once but the alert still there.

2. We uninstall Microsoft Azure recovery service & re-install it again then reboot the server. But the alert still there.

So is there any other solution we can try to get rid of this alert?

Issue #2 During this week, we saw three times that "Job Completed with warnings".

1. I checked the logs located at "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Azure Recovery Services Agent\Temp", most problem is " CATALOG FAILURE        0x80131500"

2. I did some review for this issue from this form & other related form. This issue can be reolved from Microsoft Azure server end. But there is nonthing related to local server end.

So is there anything i should do on our server end at the moment ?

Thanks for any valuable suggestions!!

Error 0x07EF9

I am receiving error 0x07EF9 for the last couple months, rendering Azure Backup useless to our company at the moment. I have tried removing the Azure backup agent, reinstalling it,  and removing the cache files. The backup kept failing until I removed one of our servers from "registered servers" in Azure backup and re-registering it. The backup ran two days successfully and then started failing again. I have seen several blogs and posts about this but no solution.

Azure DPM on Windows Server 2008 R2

Hi,

I am having some issues with installing Microsoft Azure DPM Back-up server.

I have a fresh install of W2K8 R2 X 64, have created new Certs on Azure which are accepted as the server is then registered, yet the install falls over at the Microsoft Azure Recovery Services Agent with the following status:-

The Microsoft Azure Backup installation did not complete successfully. For details, click the Error tab.34507 : The encryption passphrase provided does not match with passphrase associated with the following server: hfeaazure.hfea.gov.ukEnsure that the encryption passphrase is configured properly.

The error that is provided is:-

The Microsoft Azure Recovery Services installation failed. All changes made by the Microsoft Azure Recovery Services installation to the system were rolled back. (ID: 4024)

Manually install Microsoft Azure Recovery Services. For instructions, see "Manually Installing Prerequisite Software" in the DPM Deployment Guide.

Can anyone suggest anything,  I can confirm that the firewall ports are open.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

Mike

I'm getting the following error when trying to register an Azure virtual machine server to backup - "Virtual machines having virtual hard disks stored on Premium storage are not supported for backup".

What does this mean and how do I get around it to back up my Azure virtual machine server?

Thanks,
John
