Registered Server not appearing in Azure Account

Hi.

Recently added a local 2012R2 Essentials Server to Azure Backup. From the local dashboard everything seems fine - I went through the process of creating a vault, then installing the application locally and the certificate and the files are backing up successfully. However, when I go to manage the backup online no servers are appearing in the registered items ...clicking on "Discover" does nothing either, and nothing shows up under protected items. My usage overview also appears as 0, as does successful jobs in the last 24 hours.

However, when I go onto the subscriptions section, it says that I'm using 1.43GB of a Geo Redundant blob (although my backup size is about 3 times that!?)

...at a bit of a loss to be honest as to how to proceed to get the already registered server to appear in the online dashboard.

Scheduled Job Not Executing

Hi Guys 

I had scheduled a job for 5:30pm on every Monday and yesterday was its first backup and the job did not got executed, no backup was showing in the portal but the schedule was updated for next Monday, no error was thrown. Please suggest what actions can i take to make things work

An obvious question on backups

Hi. I've been using Azure backup to backup some simple file servers for the past couple of months and everything is good. I have lots of recovery points and I've run a few restore tests and it all works. However one thing I hadn't properly considered was what happens if the file server itself fails completely because it looks like the configuration information in respect to recovery points is held locally. I assume I can build a new server, download some new vault credentials and re-install the application but how will it know where the receovery points are? I can't find an answer to what seems to be a very simple question.

Azure VM the IaasVMProvider is in stopped state/

Everytime I login to VM, seems like IaasVMProvider service is in stopped state. It stops at some point overnight.

Does anyone know the reason for this? I re-start it and it starts just fine.

Can't find any log as to why it was stopped in first place.

Register your server - azure backup unknown error - error code 8004025B - Server 2012 R@ Essentials

I am attempting to register my Server 2012 R2 Essentials with the our azure backup plan. We have a pay as you go plan with the backup vault setup and active. when we attempt to register the server to the vault it time out and gives the following error:

We have uninstalled the add in and reinstalled but have the same issue. I see where some one else had the issue but it was after they already had the server setup and was a folder permissions issue, we don't even have any folder setup, we don't get that far in the process.

Azure Recovery Services Backup VM Snapshot Fails

We are using Recovery Services to backup many of our Azure VM's and most of them are working but there are 2 which are unable to complete the initial backup. If I look under "protected items - Azure Virtual Machine"  I see the status is (Protected Initial Backup Pending). I have let it go for 2 weeks now and the backup is still hung. If I look under "Jobs" and then look at the failed job the reason given is that it failed to take the Snapshot and then under "Error Details" I see: 

Snapshot VM sub task timed out.
Please retry the operation in a few minutes. If the problem persists, contact Microsoft Support. 

So far we have tried removing and re-registering the 2 affected VM's but they still hang on the initial backup. I reached out to Azure Developer support but they had indicated to post in this forum as the Recovery Services is still in Preview.

Any assistance would greatly be appreciated!

Unable to view dashboard or register items in new backup vault

I just created a new backup vault in US East named AzureVMsUSEast. In the portal, I am unable to access the dashboard or register items for this new backup vault. I tried logging out and back in, still no luck. I tried a different browser. Still no luck. I tried deleting the vault. It wouldn't let me do that.

Gave up and tried creating another backup vault named AzureVMs.  Same results.

Help!!!

Azure IaaS VM backup

Hello,

A customer of mine is using Azure IaaS VM backup for 33 VM running in Azure. Sind's yesterday 6/9/2015 around 15 of them are not working anymore. The error you see is: Backup failed with an internal error. What we see is that on 6/9/2015 a new VMSnapshot extenision is installed (1.0.4.0) and on 6/10/2015 version 1.0.5.0 is installed (by Microsoft I guess, not by us).

Not all servers stopped working but around 50% did.

Microsoft Azure Backup - Alert - A newer version of Microsoft Azure Recovery Services is available

I keep getting the alert "A newer version of Microsoft Azure Recovery Services is available" in Wbadmin.  I've downloaded and installed MarsAgentInstaller serveral times and rebooted each time.  Alert is generated everytime I do an online backup.

Backup seems to be working but why won't it update?  I'm running Win 2012 R2 Essentials.

Any thoughts?

I see a number of failures like this on our Azure backups in the failed file list. Not frequent, maybe twice a week at most for any one site, and only up to one or two sites on any one day.

Searching has found little by way of explanation, though enough occurrences going back to 2013 to realise I am not the first to see this.

Registration server and proxy fail

Hi - thought id trial this Azure software with a view to roll out across our site - however ....I cannot get the application to use the proxy - no matter how I go about it - it point blank refuses to use it - I looked in the forums and found others with the same problem and they were advised to go to the support and raise a ticket...well the trial edition doesn't offer tech support and im not prepared to invest money in a broken application with a view that I might get it working later....

Can someone offer some advice ? im not putting my server on an open connection, it must be behind a proxy.

Backups strated failing with error unable to initialize a backup storage location 0x186BE

My backups having been working flawlessly for months, now they are failing with the error:

Microsoft Azure Recovery Services Agent was unable to initialize a backup storage location with Microsoft Azure Backup. Please try the operation again. If the issue persists contact Microsoft support. (0x186BE)

 I have updated the agent to the most current version: 2.0.8707.0

What can I do to get this backup to run again?

Azure and DPM Protection Groups

Hi

I'm backing up to Azure, files from an on-premises DPM server and I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to send to Azure only specific 'shares' rather than the entire Protection Group. Some of the stuff backed up don't need to be transferred to the cloud. Thanks

Hello,

Is anybody knows if it is possible to change the path, and drive cache used for a MSOnline Backup on Azure ?

What is the best practice when a folder is around 1TB ? Should I cut it into small pieces ? The problem will be to extend C drive a lot.

Backups fail on verify - 0x3d090

All backups for an 8.1 client are failing on the verify.  Currently have only a single file selected, but the same thing happens on any file selected.

Any ideas?

Azure Recovery Services : VM snapshot fails after 30 minutes

Hello

We have an issue with Azure Recovery Services : we have deployed a number of Linux VMs and we did setup backup jobs using the Recovery Services functionality to do a daily VM snapshot. Note that there is no VM agent since these are Linux VMs.

This functionality works fine for most of the VMs, but it just stopped working for two of our VMs.



The error message is the following :

Could not communicate with the VM agent for snapshot status. Snapshot VM sub task timed out.

Please see the troubleshooting guide on how to resolve this.

We have no obvious explanation, can you help us with this issue ?

validating credentials fails on azure backup

hi

I'm trying to set up azure backup on a windows 7 pro machine. did try on a 2k8 server but got the same error.

when the client tried to validate the vault credentials I get an invalid vault credentials error (ID: 34513) doing research it would seem to point to a time setting issue, however each machine I have tried it on has the correct time set.

can anyone advise how to proceed
